Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2
The findings
In my first interview the person watched soccer and football
mainly. He purchases the NFL Sunday ticket every year so that he can watch all
the game, However, for soccer he just streams it online. There is no alternative
option to watching football other than streaming or watching on cable but then
you can’t watch your team, so he buys the package.
The second person was a female that watches softball and
baseball for softball, she just tries and hopes that someone is streaming it
like ESPN or some other company because they rarely get put on tv. She said
that she would purchase anything to let her watch every game if it was
possible.
The last person I interviewed watched almost any sport that
was on tv as he was a fan of almost all sports. He said that his favorite sport
is basketball but love the Lakers and only gets to watch when on live tv he
think the NBA pass is too expensive. He sometimes will stream the game.
Conclusions
The alternative evaluation is weird as most Leagues provide
their own pass that can be expensive, but streaming is really the only other
option to watch the games when you can’t buy the pass. People think that the passes
are way too expensive per season to buy multiple leagues, so they only buy one and
try to stream the others. I think that they want to watch the team so buying it
was a good idea but then its not really as you only get the one league.
Hey Ishan,
ReplyDeleteI do see that buying a package just to watch a certain team or a sport that is not always on broadcast can become a tough bill to pay. With how some of the people you interviewed wanted to watch something very specific, this can pose a problem for them. Though an alternative that you may have either missed or just avoided completely due to your service or product would be to go and see the sport event in person. Whether it be going to watch a certain team or just a sport in particular, you can sometimes find decent priced tickets to these events. This would be especially true for the person who said that they enjoy all sports.
Hi, Ishan! I feel like this is good opportunity to maybe try to expand on your interviews and ask more detailed questions. There is an unmet need with your opportunity, and I think you have potential to exploit on it a bit more. Some suggestions would be asking about price, quality, and style of your service to your prototypical customer. Feedback on such characteristics will provide constructive feedback and help make your service more successful in catering to its audience.
ReplyDeleteHey Ishan, I still love this idea for the packaging. You had people who liked different sports and they still had issues. I can see that it would be very expensive for the pass but streaming is a legitimate option. The issue is that it would require that someone actually streams it and it might be troublesome if the sport was not as widely known in some areas. Nicholas did mention another alternative that is an option with going to the live game but that is hard when some people aren’t in a country that plays the sport that often. For example, cricket is not often played here so I can’t watch it unless I have Dish satellite. This was a good segment to check out and see!
