Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Streaming service for sports
1.     There are hundreds of different sports in the world and many channels that stream these sports, but there is no streaming service that provides access to all sports, so you have to pick and choose what sports you want to watch.
a.     The who: Sports watchers around the world
b.     The what: Can’t watch all the sports they want due to channels not being available
c.     The why: They have to purchase many channels to stream all sports
2.     Hypothesis
a.     Testing the who: I believe that not everyone has this need even those that are in the current who as many people have either purchased channels to watch the sport or they have chosen to stream it online.
b.     Testing the what: The boundary is that not everyone wants to watch all the different sports, so why would they pay for something that don’t want. There are also people that choose not to buy the channels and illegally stream the game.
c.     Testing the why: There are many why’s, but the biggest reason is having to purchase a new pass every season for that one sport thus people spend hundreds on just trying to pay for a few sports. I think that almost all the people have this why.
3.     Interviews
a.     #1: The first person I interviewed was like me and didn’t want to pay for any of the channels letting him watch all the games rather he would just try and stream them. However, he said that if he could purchase a stream site that has all sports for a low price that he would.
b.     #2: This person was not a sports watcher and she said that there was no way that she would even think of purchasing the streaming service.
c.     #3: The third person I interviewed believed that the streaming service is a good idea, but because he only watched one sport regularly that it wouldn’t be of use. He stated that he wouldn’t really use the streaming service as he just watches the games through illegal streams.
d.     #4: This person believed that my idea was good but needed some work as they believed that people who are focused on one sport won’t use the stream. He said that the price needed to be in the cheap enough for one sport watchers to subscribe to the service rather than the sports channel.
e.     #5: The final interviewee said they don’t really watch the game but kept up with scores on the app. He said that although he loves sports, he just doesn’t have the time to sit down and watch. I asked if he would subscribe if we could stream to phone, he said it’s a possibility.
4.     Given your interviews, what do you know about the opportunity that you didn't know before?
a.     I learned that there is more than just my one way of thinking in the who, what and why. They showed me that even there is more of an opportunity than I originally thought as I believed most people just stream illegally. I also learned that even the one sport watchers could be changed if the price is right for them.
