Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1
Choosing a segment:
For this assignment,
I choose the segment of people that watch multiple sports. The three interviewees
are students or people that watched multiple sports.
Interviews:
The first interviewee watched
soccer and football mainly but liked to watch basketball from time to time. However,
with the best soccer being played in Europe he said it was hard to watch all
the games. He said that this is definitely something he might invest in as it
would make it easier for him to watch the sports. Right now, he says that he just
uses reddit to stream and watch the games that he wants to watch.
The second interviewee
is an avid hockey fan but also likes to watch baseball and sometimes other
sports. He said that he mainly watches whatever he can find on tv and when there
isn’t something he likes on, he would search ESPN’s streaming service. He said
that the product was something he would get because ESPN doesn’t always have all
the sports and never has hockey.
The third
interviewee watched cricket mainly but also watched football. He said that he
pays for the cricket channel so that he can watch but doesn’t always have his
team on. He said that when his team is playing and not on the channel, he tries
to find a stream online. He also said the product is definitely something he would
buy if they can choose what team they get to watch.
What I learned:
I learned that the segment is
the main group that will be purchasing the product. These people are the group
that I need to go after. However, I also learned that they are avid followers
of one sport mainly so that makes me believe that one sport watcher may switch.
I also learned that Reddit is a go to for streaming as they provide almost
everything for free.
How I describe the
segment:
The segment
is a multiple sports watcher but can be an avid fan of only one sport and just
enjoys watching other sports. This segment is one that needs a lot of attention
as it will be where we get most customers.
I really do like this idea a lot. It gives many options for sports watching for consumers no matter what sport they like to watch. It was great for your interviews because it gives an idea to what each person watches and where they watch the sports. Each person had different sports they focused on and had different ways of finding it. Your solution would be a one-stop shop for them all to find each of their things in one place. I also liked how this segment is the main one you want to target since it is what will bring in the big bucks.
