Forming and Opportunity Belief
I believe that an opportunity exist in watching sports. There is a need for people without cable or without sports packages to be able to watch all types of sports. This need has been around for a while as sports have been around for a long time and not everybody has cable. Today people are either purchasing cable or streaming them illegally online. I believe there is a 50 percent chance that this opportunity exist.

How often do you watch sports?
6 hours a week of sports
What device do you use to watch sports?
Usually TV or Computer
Have you ever had a sports game that you wanted to watch but couldn’t because you didn’t own the channel?
No as he has just streamed them online.
How have you gotten around that?
Streamed them online through third party
Would you use a site that streams all sports?
Yes, as long as it’s free.
Reflection: I learned that my opportunity needs to be cheap or free in order to use it as people already are streaming them online on third party sites. Most surprising was that games he wanted to watch were always on a channel he owned.

How often do you watch sports?
30 hours a week of sports
What device do you use to watch sports?
TV, computer, phone, tablet or any device he can get his hands on.
Have you ever had a sports game that you wanted to watch but couldn’t because you didn’t own the channel?
Yes, has numerous games that he wanted to watch but couldn’t as he didn’t have any sports packages.
How have you gotten around that?
Streamed them online with streaming services
Would you use a site that streams all sports?
Yes, he would use it as long as he got to pay for the sports that he wanted to watch and not for things he didn’t want to watch.
Reflection: It surprised me that people already try and watch games online by streaming them with the channel’s apps. I thought that less people would have access to streaming services as you need a tv providers account.
Summary: I think only half my opportunity is still there as many companies already provide streaming service that can be used by many people. I also see that many people stream them illegally through third party sites. My opportunity is better as I can now see a niche of people that might use the service. I think entrepreneurs should only partially adapt as they need to please the overall crowd and not a few people.

Hey, Ishan!
ReplyDeleteI personally don't watch sports that much, but I have noticed that a lot of my friends and peers do watch it and sometimes may not have the resources to watch it. Marketing some sort of app that satisfies that need would definitely be pretty successful. I think accessibility and affordability is a key player, especially when catering to a specific demographic (i.e., college students).
